Remember once upon a time when I used to do Top Tens when I had nothing to blog about but wanted to blog anyway? Well I didn't... until yesterday! And seeing as this is my last full day living inside this house I decided, "Hey! Why not just do a top ten about this house?" So, without further ado, it seems only fitting I present to you in no particular order.....
Jadyn Maree's Top Ten Moments in the Past Year of Living In This House
This was just such an honor in itself to be asked and accepted into such an increadible organization at such a young age. They normally don't accept High School students into their orchestra since it's at a proffesional level, but since I was a stand in they had me do a quick audition and decided to take a chance on me! And boy am I glad they did, it was one of the most surreal and increadible experiences of my entire lfie! ...plus I got to meet Collin Raye... in the church building... in front of the bathrooms... and he was super nice... and called me "Honey"... and gave me a kiss. :)
Ok, don't get me wrong girls, I love my girl friends more than anything and wouldn't trade them for anything! However... there is something about guy friends that is just so refreshing and fun that you just can't have with girls. Am I right? Also, joining choir was one of the best decisions I ever ever made! If not for choir I wouldn't have had as much of a life my second semester, and I wouldn't have decided to take choir again at Desert Ridge (and we all know how fun that's going to be :)...)! Basha Choir really saved my life, and I will forever be grateful that I decided to drop Honors French Three to pursue my talents and take another music class.
This one was a total surprise! A lady in my ward last minute asked my mom if she wanted two tickets to go see the show on my birthday and man oh man was it increadible! I had already seen and gotten autographed playlists from two of my three favorite musicals and Les Mis was the last on my list that I still needed! Now my memo board is complete, and my love for the musical has exponentially increased! There's just something about seeing something performed on stage that gives it a new meaning... you know? :)
Oh geez, what can I say about Girls' Camp other than it is UH-mazing?!?!? I know that I said that was my last year at Camp, but I refuse to believe that. One way or another I'm going to find my way back either as a cook or a leader (but let's hope it's the latter... I'm not sure the camp would survive if they had me as their cook)! But this past year at camp was a special one with my new Stake and my new ward (soon to be old ward) and I bonded with so many special, beautiful women and my testimony of this true true Gospel increased ten fold!
Ha ha ha, man do I miss this play/cast! I know it sounds contradictory, but this play kept me sane throughout our first move here. I was so lost and sad at school and in my new ward that I had started to forget who I was... this production kept me grounded and happy. Getting to be part of the Ensemble was wonderful what with its crazy costume changes from ball gowns to crazy Hags, and getting to step in as Mrs. Kirk was hilarious fun! That embarassingly stupid Irish accent I attempted will forever be burned into the brains of our poor audience members... :) I made so many lasting friends (our dear friend Jeffrey Moss being the best) and even more lasting memories and rekindled my love of the theatre. :)
Ok, this was just plain fun! :) No life changing experiences or extreme testimony building stories... it was just a great time! It was my very first Youth Conference and it was centered all around missionary work. We each got our Mission calls, spent time in the "MTC", ate authentic food from the missions we were in (I was in Australia... those meat pies were DELISH!!!), and actually went out with companions and taught lessons! But while those were all wonderful experiences that I would never trade, the most memorable moment of those three days was the activity on Saturday night... the mud pit! It started out as an organized set of games and obstacle courses that different groups could go through and complete with the obstacle of the deep, sticky mud, and quickly turned into one giant mud war! Shoes were quickly removed and it became every man/woman for themselves! We all looked like zombies but fel amazing, and let me just say... the cute boys abounded. :)
Again, no crazy experiences or stories here... this was just a plain ol' good time! Whitley is probably one of the best friends I've made since moving here, and getting to go to the lake with her on her birthday was oh so much fun! Just some raw good fun! I've never been so beat up and sore in my life after wards, but I have to say... Whitley and I were the queens of holding not falling off of our tube. Despite her grandpa's crazy boat driving, and despite the air we got on multiple occasions, and despite those couple times we accidentally smacked skulls, it took FOREVER for us to fall off. :) Thank you Whitley for giving me a better love of water and the outdoors!
Holy cowboy, this was by far one of the craziest things I have ever done in my life! Do you remember me blogging about this? What with the magic carpets, forbidden caves, magical pools, fountains of youth, gypsies, pirates, wizards, poisoned challaces, evil hags, and terrifying beasts it was most definately one of the most memorable things I have done this year! :) If you never did read about that date, I'm sorry... but there is no way I can explain it all here, but you are more than welcome to read all about it here! Read and be amazed. :)
This date in itself was just amazing! Jon Schmidt is super hilarious and Steven Sharp Nelson (just about my favorite cellist on the planet!) is even funnier! My friend Spencer asked me on this date and as it turns out his parents know and are good friends with the Schmidt family! Who would have known! So basically we got ot be back stage the entire time before the conert, and we got ot be on stage during their sound check, and we even created a couple of inside jokes with them... did we die and go to heaven after wards? Yes, of course we did. :)
Ok, may I just say that in saying this I am not trying to brag in the slightest? Alright, now that we have that established, can you flippin' believe that this even happened?!?! :D I don't think I ever even blogged about this, but the entire time I was there I could hardly believe it was even real! When I got the call from my band director that I had made it I even accused him of lying, I honestly couldn't believe it! I had gone into that audition completely calm and collected, I had a fabulous warm up, and was one of the first people to be judged. I honestly didn't expect to make it, so that was probably why I wasn't really stressed. I just figure this would be a good experience for when I made it my senior year... but no! :) The fesitval at ASU, and I got to meet some of the instrumental proffesors as well as the Conductor of the President's own Marine Band! He was our guest Conductor for All State, can you believe it?!? All in all, this was such a fun thing to do and i'm so thankful that I got to be a part of it. The acoustics in the Grady Gammage theatre were phenominal and there really is just something about playing with that kaliber of a group that instantly snaps you into a proffessional zone and makes you a better player... true story. Plus the fact that I made All State is really the main reason that EVMCO even considered me for their ensemble, so woot woot! :)
All in all, this past year has been amazing! So many fun and crazy things have happened that have made me a better, funner, more experienced person and honestly without all of these memories I would be such a boring person! ...sorry former self, but before moving here you were just a bit blah. Now you're all BAM!
Thanks Gilbert for giving me all this! I honestly can't wait to see what Chandler has to dish out on me. :)
