So in an effort to catch up on things that have been happening as well as documenting things AS they happen, let's take a second to talk about dogs.
One of my very favorite things.
A few months back I had just found out that I was pregnant and I was very emotionally compromised. Very. So one of my favorite activities became looking at puppies on craigslist because... hey... cute baby animals!
So at the same time that emotionally compromised Jadyn was regularly perusing through the craigslist classifieds, Ryan was begging the universe for a puppy.
I don't know how it happened, but somehow our combined forces exploded and suddenly we had this little puppy.
Ryan named her Lucy.
He fell in love HARD!
So now we had to figure out how to convince Ryan's parents to let him keep the wild beast that they had not agreed to procuring, and that is how Lucy came to live with us for a week! :)
Rylee basically wanted to kill herself the whole time Lucy was with us, and I couldn't wait for Ryan to take her home because I didn't have the stomach to be wretchedly sick AND constantly monitoring a dog to make sure it wasn't peeing in the house.
But she was a darling little snuggle bug, and it was very fun having some puppy time with her. :)
In the end Ryan got to keep the little stinker, so I guess all is well that ends well.
Now the other day I went over to my parents' house to visit and hang out and I brought my little dog with me. Rylee always gets so excited when she gets to come back and see everybody at mom and dad's house, and so since she had been cooped up all day I took pity on her and decided she would come along.
It was grand. :)
When we got home I hopped out of the car and let Rylee hop out behind me without her leash on. It was nearly 10:30, so I figured that nobody would really be out, and even if they were, Rylee is a good dog and doesn't really wander off leash (she normally just jumps out of the car and runs right up to the front door).
However, today there happened to be somebody walking right behind our car out for a smoke break as we were getting out, and so Rylee - being the friendly dog she is - jumped out of the car, saw this woman, and started walking towards her.
Now... let's get one thing straight... look at that dog up there ^^^
She is literally the least menacing beast I have ever seen in my life! The scariest face she's probably ever managed to make is along the lines of this...
But I swear to you... upon seeing this little face waddle up to her, this woman flipped as if the dog approaching her liked like this...
I called Rylee's name and as soon as I did this lady starts talking very nervously, "Uuuuuuhhhh, is that dog yours? Is it gonna bite me? It looks like it's gonna bite me..."
I had to stop myself from laughing at the question, "What? No! Of course not! She's super friendly."
But no... I guess I didn't see the obvious glint of raw killer instinct in Rylee's eyes because as my little dog took a few steps closer she starts freaking out!
"Oh my gosh! Oh my gosh! Your dog looks really mean! I think it's going to bite me! It's really mean! Oh my gosh! It's going to bite me!"
By this point I was flabbergasted, and poor Rylee was looking back at me like, "Dude... what's he problem?"
She then starts yelling, "Ahh! I don't know if it's my cigarette smoke that it doesn't like but I think it's really mad. It looks really, REALLY mean! I think it's going to bite me!"
......at this point I had no words. I called Rylee over and she waddled back over to me and we both went inside speechless.
And that, my friends, is the encounter I had with the third kind.
